Item Category User Manual
Overview
Item Category is the screen for managing categories used to classify items (for example, additional subcategories for raw materials, auxiliary materials, semi-finished products, and finished products).
Access
- Sidebar: Master Data Management → Item Category
Before you begin
- Select the parent category for the new category and check the current hierarchy first.
- Prepare the name to use for item classification and any required description.
Required information
- For new registration, Category Name is the required value checked when saving.
- Parent category and description are optional.
- Editing does not perform the same missing-value check as registration, so take care not to clear the existing category name.
Save and processing checks
- Categories can be added only to the defined hierarchy depth, so check the registration position.
- Check whether a name for the same purpose already exists, and after saving confirm that it appears in the tree.
- Before editing or deleting, check the effect on the classification of linked items.
Screen Layout
- View All: View registered parent and child categories in a list.
- Category Information: View the parent category name, category name, and description for the selected category.
- Register Category: Open a window for entering the parent category, category name, and category information.

Registration
- Click Register Category.
- To create a child category, select a Parent Category. If none is selected, the category you enter is registered as a parent category.
- Enter the required Category Name.
- Enter the classification criteria or intended scope in Category Information.
- Click Register, then confirm that the new category appears in the list.

Editing
- Select the category you want to edit from the list.
- Click Edit (or the Edit icon).
- Change the parent category, category name, or category information, then save.

Deletion
- Select the category you want to delete from the list.
- Click Delete and confirm.
- Confirm that the category has been removed from the list.

Tips
- Categories can be used in item search/aggregation/permission policies, so names with clear meaning are recommended.
